more pictures from saturday

my favorite picture of kristy and me:

giving "the captain" a mustache:

dancing on stage [i am kind of behind mutt and margot]:

crowd shot:

it was a fun time, other than the teenage girls getting attitudes. one called kristy "grandma", and one took margot's shoes because apparently she accidentally stepped on her foot. most people would just say "hey, could you be more careful and not step on my foot?"

a picture blog.

well, not too much going on. last evening was an all ages show. the last all-ages corpse show creeps show.

that is a band that i have liked since i moved here. their last regular show is next saturday.
my friend mutt

is the lead singer and guitarist for the band. the reason they are no longer playing shows is that their other singer/guitarist tomo

is from japan and has to move to new york to get a work visa. it is going to be mayhem next week at their final show.
but, like i said, last night was their last all-ages show, at a record store in st. paul.
we began at kris and dan's house, where we all gave ourselves mustaches

in preperation for their song "mustache ride" which they have to play if anyone in the audience yells it out.
"the captain" got in on the fun, too.

after a bit we went to the show, and since we are totally cool and awesome, we hung out backstage until csc went on.

they went on around 8:30, and we went to the front by the stage, and the dancing commenced.

[that's john, kristy, lacey, and kris]

[lacey, kristy, me, and johan]

after that we went to the hexagon and memory lanes to eat/see a few more bands.

margot, angel, kristy, sarah, me..
and then i went home early because i'm an old lady and i was tired.

the end.

shopp shoop shooop

so i suppose this isn't the greatest reason to update my blog, but it certainly a story.
i've mentioned a bit here and there about lane and kristy. kristy being my first female friend up here after marya... lane being her boyfriend who tried to cheat on her with me in september or october.
in november he tried to strangle her and he really beat her up. that was the last straw for me, but she forgave him and dropped the charges and they continued living together.
it caused an awkward situation, as she and i hang out numerous times a week, and i wasn't exactly quiet about my distaste for him. i generally would just completely ignore his presence and not even look at him when we were in the same place at the same time.
basically kristy wanted to put the whole thing behind her, so if people asked about it, she wouldn't tell them exactly what happened [i was the only one who saw her after the incident and knew the extent of her injuries].
lane basically told anyone who asked HIM about it that it was a complete lie and it never happened. so there were many people who didn't quite understand why i was so disgusted with him.
anyway, on sunday he wrote me a long, heartfelt apology. basically saying he had failed as a friend to me and a boyfriend to kristy and that he wanted to take the steps to be a better person and fix things.
i wrote him back to say it was big of him to write to me, and while i would be civil and even talk to him when i saw him, we could never, ever be friends. he accepted that.
monday night, kristy and i were going to go do trivia at spring street, but instead we went to her friend katie's house and lane was there. we all had a fine time, he and i even joked around a bit.
after we left her house, the three of us went back to lane and kristy's apartment where he and i discussed everything. he seemed incredibly sincere about making things right and being a better boyfriend to kristy, and i was starting to believe he might be telling the truth.
the two of them squabble on a regular basis, so when they started to argue a bit, i felt a bit uncomfortable [they have a studio apartment, so i really couldn't go into another room] and decided to leave.
i went to visit my friend and hear the new song he had just finished. while i was driving home, i noticed i had missed a call from a number i didn't recognize.
i called the number back, and a guy picked up and said kristy was being taken to the hospital and that lane was arrested.
at which point i promptly broke down into hysterics. i called kristy's phone, hoping maybe she had it on her, and some black dude picked up. so i spent the next few minutes in the dark, not knowing if kristy was okay.
she called me from the hospital not too much later. apparently soon after i had a left, their argument escalated, and she had tried to leave the apartment. he blocked her inside and started hitting her and strangling her again. she somehow escaped and ran out into the road to flag down a car. he tackled her in the street and started smashing her head against the ground.
luckily a car was passing and four guys go out and chased him down. he threw one of them against a building the in the process of running away, and the guy had to get five staples in his head.
the cops arrived like a minute later and he ran from them too, but he was apprehended and booked in the county jail with no bail.
kristy had me call our friend fada, who went to the hospital and sat with her while they checked her for a concussion. then she stayed at his house that night.
the next day we figured out that lane had thrown her cell phone into the bushes and some black dude found it. he sold it back to her for 25 bucks. there's a restraining order against lane, and he is in jail until his trial.
i feel bad about the entire thing. i was the last person to let down my guard about him, and less than an hour after i did, he was back to being an abusive motherfucker. i know, though, that if i had been there when the argument escalated, i would've gotten hurt too, and things could've been much worse.
right now i'm just helping kristy get through this. the cops said he might spend five years in jail. i know he deserves it, but i also understand how upsetting it is for her to hear that he may be in jail for that long.
so, there's that.

on a lighter note, i have been sort-of seeing someone.
his name is adam and he's 28. he's got a degree in physics and is an electrical engineer. worked for a bit in france at CERN operating the hadron collider.
just bought his first house. makes $75000/yr. took martial arts for twelve years. he's in two bands and is a music producer.
really likes world war II. but not to the point that ely did, as he isn't a war re-enactor. we've been watching the series "band of brothers" about the paratroopers in world war II. it's interesting.
really good at math. ultra laid-back. pretty much the opposite of me in that department.
also has experience dealing with crazies like me!

so. we're not dating or anything, but he's an itneresting prospect.

holy sweet goddamn

well, i will update this, but i sure haven't been doing a whole lot lately.

i guess yesterday and today were fun, or something.

well, friday night and saturday night, i mean. oh, thursday was fun too, i guess.

thursday i went to see my friend's band the anonymus and one of my favorite local bands international ESPIONAGE! that was nice. the other two bands were awful, though. i got to hang out with my friend mutt for a while, and he was pretty much the only one there that i knew [because it was the turf club, and it was a week night] except my friend luke who stopped by for a bit. i manage to always get lost whenever i go to st. paul, even though i know exactly how to get to the turf club. on the way home i ALWAYS get lost. st. paul... psh.

friday night a band from kc, missouri [them damned young livers] was playing club underground. all my friends have been excited about this for months, and twin cities rockabilly was promoting the hell out of it. i only knew the second band playing [bitch n' brown], but i took their word for it that the other one was worth it.
my friend john and i went to the triple rock for some food and then headed to the spring street tavern ["club underground" is the name of the downstairs area. worst name ever, in my opinion. sounds stupid.]
it was worth it. a very entertaining band. really fun to see them perform, and just about everyone i know was there and in a really great mood. it was my friend kris's birthday, so she had her birthday party afterwards since the the livers were staying at her house.
basically after such a fun and rousing show, we all sat around and watched "aqua teen hunger force".

every saturday night at midnight the uptown theatre shows an older movie that's been out of theatres for a long time. in two weeks, they're showing "labyrinth" which i will hopefully not miss, but it is the same night as the comedian i'm seeing, and that show starts at 9:30. so i'll ahve to see.
anyhow, this week they showed "army of darkness" with bruce campbell [the third in the "evil dead" series].
so beforehand i went to john's house and we watched "evil dead 2" as a segue into army of darkness.
for some reason at the theatre before the movie started, the band gay witch abortion played a set. that's never happened before, but it's never unexpected that they play someplace odd. they're just a guitarist and a drummer, and it's just music, no singing. last time i saw them, they were playing at memory lanes but instead of playing on the stage, they played in the supply room with a big screen tv showing static behind them.
anyway, army of darkness was great and entertaining as usual. i tend to forget how many popular catchphrases come from that movie.

i realized mouse might have been taken away from her mother too soon. she uses one of my stuffed eeyores and suckles on it and kneads it with her paws. i would almost feel bad for her if she wasn't such a bitch.

walter has been strange and creepy lately. he comes right up near my face and just stares at me and slowly wags his tail. he lightly grazes me with his lips, then backs up a bit and continues staring. sometimes he will jump on the couch and wedge himself between me and the back cushion.

i suppose that's all for now. sorry it's not more exciting.
